Instructions & Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in the submission process! Submissions are accepted to AmLit twice a year (Fall and Spring). You may only submit work ONLINE via digital submissions, unless you are submitting a physical piece of art.
Spring 2012 Submission Deadline: Friday, February 17, 2012 by 5 pm to amlit.submit@gmail.com.
DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1-The Form
1. Download the AmLit Submission Form as a Word document and fill in your information. then RENAME the Submission Word Document using the format below:
Last name_first initial_title_FORM
Example: Auden_WH_TheFallofRome_FORM, for example, if W.H. Auden were to submit his work, “The Fall of Rome,” that is what the file name would look like. Using FORM at the end will help us differentiate between the form and the work itself.
2. To rename, simply click “save as” from your tool bar and type in the new name.
STEP 2-The Work
3. To format the actual work, rename the document using the same format.
Example: Auden_WH_TheFallofRome
4. Remove any identifying information on the actual work (for example, W.H. would not put his name at the end of the work). This will ensure that your piece is reviewed anonymously.
STEP 3-Emailing the form and the work
5. Attach the submission form and the work you wish to submit to an email to amlit.submit@gmail.com.
6. Please write which genre you wish to submit to in the subject. (Example: “Poetry”). If you’re submitting in multiple genres, please send multiple emails with the respective genre in the subject.
7. Click send! You may direct any questions/concerns to amlitmag@gmail.com .
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:
SUBMITTED WORK AND SUBMISSION FORMS MUST BE RENAMED AS LAST NAME_FIRST INITIAL_TITLE, and LAST NAME_FIRST INITIAL_TITLE_FORM.
Digital Submission Guidelines

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART
1. To submit a physical piece of art, please contact amlit.art@gmail.com and set up an appointment with the Art Editor to drop off your work. You must PRINT and FILL OUT the submissions form located online and supply it with your piece upon submission. You may also choose to take a photo of your piece and send it in (if you do this, please be sure to clarify it is an art, not photo submission).
2. Photography and photo submissions of art MUST be submitted in 300 DPI. If your photo is not given to us in at least 300 DPI or printable quality we will not be able to consider it for submission. For questions, please email amlit.photo@gmail.com.
3.When submitting a photo or photo of art, do not resize the photo in the email attachment. Send the best quality photo you have. If your file is simply too big or you are concerned about how your art looks in a photo, please email amlit.art@gmail.com or amlit.photo@gmail.com and the Art editorial team will work with you on how to best represent your work at the AmLit review session.
